During the first stretch of the COVID-19 pandemic, M+R allowed for easy take-out ordering. As businesses opened their doors back up, M+R wanted to continue providing food that was not only seamless to make, but easier to share through a communal experience.
As the business evolved, Marble + Rye’s brand needed a revamp.
What was once a traditional-seated restaurant with a dark, stoic aesthetic, became a light-hearted hangout spot. M+R presented their new paint colors, fabrics, and finishes inspired by ’80s interiors and sculptural furniture.

The refreshed logo mark has more negative space to create a subtle lightness and allow for versatility. We shifted into a lighter and more refreshing color palette influenced by the colors and playful elements found in board games from the MoMA Design Store. We debuted a new menu, along with a special fortune telling game, the Drink Diviner.
The goal of this brand refresh was to solidify M+R as a young, fun, and inviting place in Buffalo, NY. The new logo, website, and brand identity now reflects the restaurant’s classic and eclectic atmosphere, events, and menu.
